What should you check when choosing capsule-style cord ends?
A capsule-style cord end should complement your collection, but an order decision should not be based on a photograph alone. The cord construction, internal opening, position on the finished product and attachment method all need to be considered together. Having design, purchasing and production teams work from the same sample makes the scope of the order clear.
This guide is for textile companies looking to turn model selection into a structured sample and order-checking process. Start by browsing Baycar's capsule-style cord ends collection, then use the following points to build your shortlist.
Define the cord and its intended use first
Before looking at models, identify the product and the position where the cord will be used. A component used on a hood, waistband or another adjustment point may have different appearance and movement requirements. Note whether the end will simply provide a finishing detail or also need to pass through an opening.
Specify the diameter for round cords, or the width and thickness for flat drawcords. Provide a cord sample alongside the measurements. Two cords with the same nominal dimensions can differ in braid construction, compactness or stretch, so do not assume compatibility from the stated size alone. If you have not yet selected the cord, consider the drawcords and cord-end applications collection together with the tipping options.
Check the internal opening and outer body separately
The external length of a cord end does not tell you the size of the opening that receives the cord. Confirm the outer length and width for the desired appearance, and the internal opening for cord compatibility, as separate dimensions. A measurement shown in a product image does not establish the other dimensions.
If the attached cord end needs to pass through an eyelet or another component, check this with the finished assembly. Agree with your production team whether attachment will take place before or after threading. Wide-opening cord ends are among the options worth examining for this purpose, but the category name alone does not guarantee a fit with your cord.
Clarify the attachment method before sampling
Ask how the selected model will be secured to the cord, who will carry out the work and what equipment is required. Do not assume that gluing, crimping or any other method is suitable based on the photograph. Cord-end preparation, the length inserted into the tip and the finished length should also be clarified during sampling.
Confirm the procedure for your chosen reference rather than applying one set of attachment instructions to every model. Prepare the sample with the actual cord and the process intended for production; approving an empty capsule alone is not enough.
Choose the colour and finish using a physical sample
Colours on screen can be affected by lighting and display settings. Compare your preferred model with the fabric, cord and other accessories under the same conditions. Establish an approved physical sample for the matt or glossy appearance, surface texture and colour match between components.
A metallic-looking surface does not establish the body material, coating construction or durability. Ask separately about the material and surface treatment of your chosen reference. Share your washing and other care requirements, then assess suitability using a finished-product sample.
Assess logo placement with specified dimensions
If a logo is required, send the artwork together with its intended position, orientation, colours and approximate dimensions. Check the legibility of text and fine lines on the small surface using a sample. Also consider which way the logo faces once the cord end is attached.
Printed drawstring tips and cord ends provide a starting point for comparing placements. An application shown in a photograph does not mean every logo can be applied to every model in the same way. Confirm the usable print area and application method for the selected model.
Check the sample on the product, not in isolation
Examine the capsule, cord, fabric and any eyelet or stopper together. During normal use, observe whether components catch on one another, how the end contacts the fabric and whether the attachment remains in place. If the product includes a cord lock, assess your choices from the cord locks and drawstring stoppers collection as part of the same assembly.
Recheck appearance, attachment and operation after the care processes planned for your product. The test method, acceptance criteria and responsible person should be defined in your company's quality plan; this article does not replace a specific test result or compliance document. Sample approval should record not only the colour, but also the selected cord, model reference and attachment method.
Include comparable information in your quotation request
When considering the same model in different colours or with different applications, define each option separately. This makes it clear which product and process each quotation covers. Include the following information in your request:
- Product or model reference and a link to the relevant page
- Intended product, cord sample and cord dimensions
- Required external dimensions, internal opening and attachment requirements
- Colour, preferred finish and any approved reference sample
- Logo artwork, requested placement and required application
- Quantity for each colour and model, plus any target delivery date
Confirm the minimum order, sample conditions, stock, price and production lead time separately. Do not infer these from a photograph or an earlier quotation for another model. When placing the order, match the product, colour, application and quantity details to the final approved sample.
Final checks before ordering
Before deciding, make sure you can answer three questions clearly: Does the selected capsule fit the actual cord? Has the sample been assessed on the product against your use and care requirements? Do the quotation and approved sample describe the same model, colour and application?
Once this information is ready, share the references you have selected from the capsule-style cord ends collection with Baycar to clarify current options and order conditions. This lets you move forward with a choice whose application and scope are defined, as well as one you like the look of.
